Fans of The Dark Pictures Anthology series were eagerly anticipating the release of Directive 8020, the next highly anticipated installment in the franchise. Initially scheduled for launch on October 2, 2025, the game has now officially been delayed, according to an announcement made by developer Supermassive Games in July 2025.
The delay pushes the game’s release into the first half of 2026, though no specific new date has been confirmed as of yet. Supermassive cited the need for additional development time to ensure the title meets quality expectations and delivers the narrative depth and polish fans have come to expect from the anthology series.
Directive 8020 is set to be a sci-fi-themed horror experience, offering a unique twist on the cinematic horror formula that the series is known for. While the delay is disappointing for many, the studio’s commitment to improving the game’s final state has been widely appreciated by the community.
More updates are expected soon.
