IO Interactive Reveals “007: First Light” – A New James Bond Origin Story Set for 2026
IO Interactive has officially lifted the curtain on 007: First Light, a brand-new third-person action-adventure game, revealed today during the latest State of Play broadcast. Slated for release in 2026, the game represents a bold reimagining of James Bond’s origins — a fresh standalone story crafted by the award-winning team behind the Hitman series.
Developing a James Bond game is a tremendous milestone for IO Interactive. With over two decades of experience delivering immersive worlds and stealth-driven gameplay, the studio is channeling that expertise into shaping a new era for the iconic spy. The journey to bring this vision to life is one the team describes as both exciting and deeply meaningful.
Set to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5, 007: First Light will also take full advantage of the PlayStation 5 Pro's advanced hardware. The game will support PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) for enhanced visual fidelity, while offering smooth performance with a 60 FPS option in Quality Mode.
