Sony Reportedly Raising Prices for First-Party PlayStation 5 Games in India
PlayStation gamers in India might soon have to pay more for Sony-published titles. According to a report from High Chaos Run, Sony is preparing to increase the prices of its first-party games on the PlayStation Store, with the changes expected to take effect from July 10, 2025.
As an example, Death Stranding 2, which is currently priced at ₹4,999, may see a bump to ₹5,199. Similarly, titles like Astro Bot, now listed at ₹3,999, are expected to rise to ₹4,199. While Sony hasn’t officially confirmed the price hike or given a reason, the report points out that similar increases were made in countries like Brazil and Turkey—where Sony cited economic pressures and currency fluctuations.
What about pre-orders? If you’ve already pre-ordered a game like Ghost of Yotei, you’ll still be charged the original ₹4,999. However, any new pre-orders made after July 10 will reflect the new prices.
This move comes shortly after Sony quietly raised the cost of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition in India, increasing it from ₹44,990 to ₹49,990. That change also lacked an official explanation, though past adjustments in other markets have been linked to global economic shifts and exchange rate volatility.
