Dying Light: The Beast Pushed to September, Devs Promise Polished Experience

Fans of the Dying Light series will have to wait a bit longer for the next chapter. Techland has confirmed that Dying Light: The Beast is being delayed by several weeks, shifting its release from August 22 to September 19, 2025. The game will be coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with the studio aiming to use the extra time for final polishing.

In a public statement, Techland explained the reasoning behind the delay, saying the team is taking a few more weeks to fine-tune key aspects of the game—including user interface tweaks, animation improvements, and balancing the gameplay experience.

"It’s always been our mission to make The Beast the most refined and immersive Dying Light experience to date," the studio shared. "Taking just four additional weeks allows us to focus on the little things that matter—the details that can turn a good game into a truly great one."

Originally scheduled for late August, Dying Light: The Beast is a new standalone story that brings back Kyle Crane, the protagonist of the first game. After surviving a decade of torture and biological experiments at the hands of a mysterious villain known only as the Baron, Crane escapes and begins a bloody path of revenge. His journey takes him to Castor Woods, a once-vibrant resort town now crawling with infected.

Crane is no longer just relying on his parkour skills—thanks to the Baron's twisted experiments, he now possesses brutal, rage-fueled abilities that give him an edge in combat. Alongside enhanced melee and traditional weapons, these new powers turn him into a force to be reckoned with.

As for last-gen consoles, Techland hasn’t made anything official, but there’s increasing chatter that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions might not see the light of day until sometime in 2026, possibly due to optimization challenges.

So while the wait has gotten a bit longer, it sounds like the devs are doing what they can to make sure Crane’s return is worth it.
